AI For Everyone is the course to take before you decide how far into AI you want to go. Taught by Andrew Ng — co-founder of Coursera and one of the most respected figures in machine learning — it is a deliberately non-technical, roughly ten-hour course that explains what AI can and can't do, how AI projects actually work, and how to think about adopting it, all with zero maths and zero code.

Its enduring popularity comes from clarity and calibration. Ng is exceptional at stripping away hype: he explains the real difference between what's feasible today and what's science fiction, walks through the anatomy of an AI project, and gives managers a realistic playbook for building or buying AI capability. The section on AI and society is thoughtful rather than alarmist. For a ten-hour investment, the mental model you gain is remarkably durable — it doesn't date the way tool tutorials do, because it's about how to think, not which button to press.

This is ideal for non-technical professionals and managers, for anyone weighing whether to invest months in learning AI properly, and for leaders responsible for AI adoption who need to ask the right questions and set realistic expectations. It's the best possible orientation before committing to a heavier technical path.

The honest limitation is that it is, by design, not hands-on. You will not write a line of code or train a model — this is strategy and literacy, not skill-building. If you already know you want to build, you can move past it quickly; its value is precisely for the decision-making stage.

Ten hours here can save an organisation from a six-figure misjudgement, which is an unusual return for a free course.

Verdict: free to audit, ten hours, and taught by the field's clearest communicator — there's almost no one who wouldn't benefit from it before going further.
